Monster Meets The Maestro
Frankenstein at the BJSO
A UNIQUE CELEBRATION OF HALLOWEEN
Audiences leave annual performances of the BJSO at the Beloit International Film Festival asking for an encore. Here it is…and you are part of the performance.
Composer Michael Shapiro will be on hand to introduce his new film score for the 1931 film classic Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff. This exciting program has been performed around the country to rave reviews. Our scary, scary night will present the screening of the original film with the musical score performed by the BJSO along with a competition for the best monster in the audience, and a tasty preview of “trick or treat.” You’ll be shouting
"It’s Alive! It’s Alive!" all the way to the refreshment stand.

A Special Guest and a Tribute to Supporters of the BJSO
Robert Tomaro: Dream Palace
John Adams: "Gnarly Buttons;" Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra
Starring guest soloist Esther Lamneck, 2009 Victor E. Ferrall, Jr.
Artist-in-Residence at Beloit College
This world famous clarinet virtuoso, equally at home on jazz and concert stages, is the perfect guest to perform John Adams' concerto. Adams is one of this country’s most admired and respected composers; he has become internationally known for his stage works on contemporary themes like Nixon in China and Doctor Atomic. The concerto is bracketed by a beloved Russian classic and a concert arrangement of the ballet music of Maestro Tomaro, and the evening includes a special appearance by an emerging young artist. Join us as the full resources of the BJSO, musically honor the donors, sponsors, and special friends who have made this and past seasons possible. Click here to hear a sample of "Gnarly Buttons".

Family Spectacular
Deck the halls with your favorite holiday music and the Beloit Janesville Symphony. Surprise guest appearances by regional musical groups, distractions for the kids, sing-alongs for the whole family, and all the Christmas songs we love, will bring the community together in what is sure to become an exciting holiday Pops tradition. A dynamic Pavarotti-dimensioned character, bedecked in red, already has the date on his calendar and has promised to join a select group of the young-at-heart who register early for brunch—which may even lead to more singing. Wine, Women and Song:
An Evening in Vienna
The Beloit Janesville Symphony Waltz Night
The Rock River will become the Blue Danube and the night will ring with the sounds of old Vienna as the Beloit Janesville Symphony turns to the music of the Waltz King, Johann Strauss, and friends. Dancers will glide across the Eclipse Center and Pontiac Convention Center dance floors setting the tone for this magic evening. Wine will flow as you enjoy an Austrian buffet and Viennese desserts. Whether you dance or just enjoy some of the most beautiful music ever written, you will want to be there for the first of what may be many BJSO evenings of audience participation and a chance to share a few of those Tales from the Vienna Woods.
